Continuing Education Student Testimonial

Scholarship Winner

My experience at Durham College has been extremely positive. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Detective Sergeant Dave Perry for his ability to inspire and motive his students; he truly is an exemplary instructor and mentor. I hope that by receiving this scholarship my five children will be inspired to follow in my footsteps.

Motorcycle Training Program:

The instructors of Durham College's motorcycle training program did an excellent job of taking the edge off for the nervous first time riders and were absolutely amazing at passing on the required knowledge in a most effective and efficient way. They were all patient, honest and refreshingly took a personal interest in making sure that everyone was successful.

They exhibited a high level of professionalism and wisdom, which in my opinion enabled me to be successful over the weekend and also gave me a solid foundation which will ensure many years of enjoyable riding.

This course should be MANDATORY for all motorcyclists, new or experienced.

Troy N. Murrell

In August 2003, I completed the weekend Motorcycle course in order to obtain my M-2 license. It was very educational, and fun to be a part of. Being 75 years of age, I was very apprehensive of my ability to complete all the necessary maneuvers. I must say that the staff went out of their way to assure me that it was all much easier than it seemed.

I have nothing but praise for all of the staff, and would like to extend my appreciation for the understanding and kind words that helped to uplift me. The lectures were serious, but interjected with humour. To all the motorcycle instructors, I would like to thank-you for your good work.

"For the last twenty-three years I have been involved in the home daycare field. Making the decision to return to school to further my education in my chosen field has resulted in one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.

With the support of my husband, Ray, and children, Michael, Michelle, Andrew and Matthew, I have been attending Durham for almost three years, with only four courses left to finish in my program. One of the things that I like about Continuing Education is that you can learn at your own pace, taking as many or as few courses as you wish each semester. I have always found the staff and other students to be very supportive and a lot of fun to be with.

I find myself looking forward to "school nights", knowing that I'll always learn something new. During my studies I have gained a vast amount of academic knowledge, which has helped me to run my business in a much more professional manner. It has also been a personal journey of self-discovery. I have gained self-confidence, self-respect and also found out that I am a perfectionist - a fact that my kids tell me they already knew!

As a friend told me recently, "You're never too old to learn". Go ahead, sign up and give Durham College Continuing Education a chance to change your life."
