How to get started

Winter/Spring course listings will be available December 1.

Please arrange for the following prior to your course start date:

  • Review all information at this website
  • Ensure that you have an Internet Service Provider
  • Arrange to purchase any needed textbooks or materials - See Textbook Listing link

Note: You will not be able to access your course prior to the start date and for those registering after the official start date, it will take 24 - 48 hours to activate your account.

Course Titles
 Note: Depending on which OntarioLearn college is delivering your course online some course titles may be posted differently than the course title listed on our website, course calendar, or your receipt from Durham College.  

How to Get Started

  1. Go to www.ontariolearn.com and click "Login".  
  2. Review the Username and Password links on the left side of the screen to determine your login information.  Enter your username and password and click " Start a Session."    
  3. Review all "Start Up" announcements once you have successfully logged in to the OntarioLearn ePortal.    
  4. To access your course(s), click on the course title to connect to the course platform.  A new browser window will open and you will be required to re-enter your username and password (it is the same username and password as #2 above).
Please Note :  

    5.   If your course is to be delivered on the FirstClass platform you will be
          required to download and install the FirstClass software before you
          can log in. Select the "FirstClass download" link and follow the instructions.
          You are only required to download and install the software once.

    6.   If your course is to be delivered on the Blackboard platform, you must
          update the Personal Information" section to include your email address.
          Failure to do this means the instructor has no way of contacting you.
          To update the Blackboard system with your personal email address:

            i)    Login to the Blackboard system.

            ii)   Click on "Personal Information"+ "Edit Personal Information"

            iii)  In the "email" field,delete "ontario_learn@embanet.com" and enter
                 YOUR personal email address.

            iv)  Check to make sure that the information you have entered is correct.

            v)   At the bottom of the screen, click "Submit."
