The Athletics department and the Durham Lords women's basketball team are delighted to welcome new assistant coach, Charles Kissi, to his first season with team for the 2007-2008 academic year.

"Charles is an excellent addition to the Durham College women's basketball program. He brings with him knowledge of how to win having coached a national championship team himself," said Tim Baulk, new head coach of the Lords' women's basketball team.

Kissi coached the midget girls within the Basketball Ontario Elite Development Program for the Kawartha Region and the Ontario Basketball Club Program, winning a provincial silver medal and leading the team to a national championship gold medal in 2006 and winning a bronze medal in 2007.

"I am really looking forward to being part of the Durham College staff. This is a new challenge for me and I am excited to help turn the team around," said Kissi, who has tremendous knowledge of the game and is expected to be a great contributor to the team.

A former co-captain and player with the McMaster University basketball team, Kissi competed at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national tournament twice and received the Liam Stevens Award for exemplifying the qualities of positive attitude, hard work and determination. He brings enthusiasm, dedication and a winning attitude to the program.

Tryouts for the women's basketball team for the 2007-2008 season will take place daily from Monday, September 17 to Thursday, September 20 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre in Gym 1.
