With the school year fast approaching, it's almost time for students to their game faces on - Durham Lords' varsity sports tryouts are just around the corner. The college has offered varsity sports opportunities to students for more than 35 years, proving it is a college to be reckoned with when game time arrives.
Provincial, national, team and individual championships are recorded every year for the Lords, demonstrating how its tradition of excellence, supported by administration, has been developed and continued year after year. In 1997, the Department of Athletics held the first Hall of Fame ceremony to honour the tremendous accomplishments of former Durham College athletes.
Last year the department saw more than 250 students try out for varsity sports and is expecting even more this year. Varsity sports teams available for tryouts for the 2007-2008 academic year include golf, women's fastball, men's baseball, women's and men's soccer, women's and men's basketball, and women's and men's volleyball.
