Durham College students, faculty and staff can satisfy their appetites at E.P. Taylor's

E.P. Taylor's, Durham College's on-campus pub, will soon be opening its very own food service in response to student demand for more accessible food services on campus.

The new service, which includes a new Fresh is Best line and Pizza Pizza, begins the week of August 27 with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As of Tuesday, September 4, service hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"The Student Association saw the need for the Student Centre to provide services to better suit student's needs," said Will Ellis, manager of the Student Centre. "We ran focus groups last year to find out what students want and more food options was the response."

That's just what the new food service operation will provide. Hours have been extended to serve night school students and students who are working late on campus and the new Fresh is Best line will be made fresh-to-order. The meals will also be environmentally friendly as they will be served on real plates or paper products as opposed to Styrofoam.

"Your Student Association is very passionate about the new food service operation," said Fraser McArthur, president of Your Student Association (Your SA), who also explained that Your SA bought Chartwells out of the Student Centre to create its own food service.

The menu will feature made-to-order omelettes, breakfasts including all-day breakfast and breakfast sandwiches; made-to-order pub combos including hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken wings, chicken fingers and more; made-to-order fresh salads including caesar, pasta and garden salads with a choice of toppings and dressings; made-to-order sandwiches and wraps including E.P. Taylor's Twister wrap; and daily deals.

During September, the service will also be available on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. and open Labour Day weekend.
