Your Student Association (Your SA) at Durham College, formerly known as the Student Association, has recently re-branded to better communicate its information, accomplishments and services to students and increase Your SA-student interaction.

The re-brand is the first step Your SA is taking toward becoming a more accessible association. The organization got the ball rolling after last year's student elections and is committed to letting students know that it is a student-owned operation on campus.

"Your SA is a bottom-up organization," said Naheed Dosani, vice-president of Internal and Operations Management for Your SA. "Students really direct its actions including impacting student life on campus. We want students to be more in touch with Your SA."

Dosani views the re-brand as a shift in thinking. Rather than seeing Your SA and the student body as two separate entities, he is encouraging students to participate in programming and processes and become part of the team.

"It's simple and very reflective of the unique and great structure we have; it lets all students know we are here for them," added Fraser McArthur, president of Your SA.

Your SA will be updating its website to reflect the values and new approach of the organization including adding new features such as meeting minutes, policies, budgets and the strategic plan. Dosani indicated that members of Your SA will be more visible on campus and at events and will interact with students more often. The new food service operation opening this month at E.P. Taylor's is also an example of Your SA's response to student demand.

Since its inception on September 25, 1967, the college's student association has provided leadership for all students attending Durham College.
