Inspiration Alley, which was curated by Charlotte Hale, associate dean of the Durham College schools of Communication Arts and Design, currently features photos by faculty and staff.
If a picture is worth a thousand words then there are thousands of words strewn across the walls on the first floor of the C-Wing at Durham College.
Inspiration Alley, which was curated by Charlotte Hale, associate dean of the schools of Communication Arts and Design, features photos taken by faculty and staff. Included in the current exhibition are photos by Hale; Robin Pereira, dean; Stephen Gilligan, John Davidson and Jo Ann Jordan, all professors; and Darren Fisher, technologist, all with the schools of Communication Arts and Design. The collection of photographs represents a wide and diverse range of images and styles, from pinhole to digital photography.
"You can really notice a difference in anybody who walks down that hall. People stop, look and comment on the photos," said Hale. "I use it as a teaching tool. That area has always been great to showcase the creativity of students, faculty and staff."
Around mid-October, student work will go up in place of the current exhibit. Students taking photography courses as part of their programs with the schools of Communication Arts and Design are eligible to showcase their work on the wall.
The work displayed in Inspiration Alley will be rotated a few times during each semester to enable each program to display some of their best pieces.
Some of these images will be available for display elsewhere in the college once student work is exhibited. For more information, please contact Hale at ext. 2708 or charlotte.hale@durhamcollege.ca.
