Stan Marchut is a picture of longevity in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's (OCAA) women's volleyball world. The Durham College women's volleyball coach can add another milestone to his successful 24-year career, following his 350th match on January 17.

Marchut, the winningest women's volleyball coach in OCAA history, reached this amazing mark when the Lords beat the George Brown Huskies in convincing fashion, 25-11, 25-6, 25-16, on Durham's home court.

The Oshawa-native and longtime teacher at Eastdale Collegiate and Vocational Institute joined Durham College as the head coach in 1984. To date, he has compiled an overall won-loss record of 350-132 for an astounding .726 winning percentage.

Under Marchut's leadership, his teams have missed the playoffs only once and have qualified for the OCAA championships for 16 consecutive years. During that time, he has won the provincial title three times and competed in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national championships on four occasions.

Marchut's most successful season came in 1986 when his squad won the bronze medal at the CCAA championships, Durham's first and only national volleyball medal. He was also the OCAA coach of the year five times and in 1994 received the CCAA Career Coaching Excellence Award.

While Marchut has had many successes on the court, he also presents a devotion to the game and dedication to the overall improvement of Durham College student-athletes, which has helped result in a nationally-ranked women's volleyball program.

Congratulations to Marchut and good luck to his women's volleyball team as it makes its way to the OCAA championships at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario in February. Go Lords!
