An evening of fine arts, including theatrical vignettes, art presentations and award-winning engineering innovation models created by Durham College students was recently enjoyed by a large gathering at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa.
Dozens of Durham College staff, faculty and students turned out to support fellow students and prove they are not only book smart but art smart too at the recent One Night Only show held at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa.
"We wanted to bring the campus community to the gallery for a shared evening of art and culture," said Liesje de Burger, the event's co-ordinator and a writing specialist for UOIT and Durham College.
Sponsored by TD Waterhouse, the event was exclusive to the campus community and featured symphonic music and theatrical vignettes, as well as several paintings, a multimedia display and four award-winning engineering innovation models created by students from UOIT and Durham College.
Student volunteers assisted with greeting guests, handing out information packages and serving refreshments. Many attendees purchased tickets for a meal that concluded the evening, with a special dish prepared by Simon Bush, chef at the Gallery Cafe.
