While some high school students slept in and others went on vacation, many were found walking the halls of Durham College during the March break campus tours. Volunteer student ambassadors conducted the tours, hosted by the Admissions and Recruitment office, at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses.

"I love the school and I like to show it off," said Victoria Nye, a third-year Business Administration-Marketing student and student ambassador.

Nye recommends Durham College to future college students because of its state-of-the-art facilities, technology and exceptional professors.

"My experience with teachers has been extremely positive," she said. Students learn from teachers with years of professional experience who create an interactive learning environment designed to help them develop the confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.

The Oshawa campus houses an Integrated Manufacturing Centre, a fully equipped dental lab, a 5,700-square-foot Simulation Lab featuring human-like simulators that portray various health conditions, a 150-seat Computer Learning Commons, an award-winning Campus Library and a recently expanded Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Durham College's Whitby campus is home to the nationally acclaimed Skills Training Centre, where students are enrolled in 17 apprenticeship programs, 11 of which are Red Seal, and many trade-related certificate and diploma programs.

"The tour was fantastic," said Kyle Betts, a recent Public Relations applicant. "I now know where everything is on campus and have a solid idea of what Durham College provides its students."

Durham College offers 80 full-time programs in high-demand areas through the schools of Applied Sciences, Apprenticeship, Business, Communication Arts, Design, Emergency Services, Health and Community Services, Information Technology, Integrated Studies, Justice and the Skilled Trades.

Aside from academics, students' needs are met through health, financial, security and food services, as well as vibrant campus life activities.
