The first-ever Homecoming Weekend will bring together the Durham College family May 2 and 3 for what promises to be a memorable reunion.

Durham College will continue its 40th-anniversary year activities when members of the campus community past and present gather in May for a big Homecoming Weekend celebration.

All alumni, current and former students, staff and faculty, along with their families are invited to come out and celebrate 40 years of post-secondary excellence.

"We want our alumni to see how we've grown and to reconnect with fellow classmates and faculty," said Lori Connor, alumni officer. "At Durham College we pride ourselves on fostering lifelong relationships with our alumni.

"This is a Durham College family, all of these people are part of our family and we're looking forward to seeing everyone."

The festivities will kick off Friday, May 2 at 8 p.m. with Suds and Feathers (beer and wings) at E.P. Taylor's. Get out that old Durham College jacket and receive your first beverage and one pound of wings on the house.

Saturday boasts a full roster of events during the day, including alumni varsity men's and women's volleyball and basketball games, as well as women's fastball. Interesting program rooms, such as the nursing and dental labs, will also be open to tour as well as the entire campus.

Children will be treated to a jumping castle, face painting, crafts and balloon-sculpting clowns. A special decades room will exhibit memorabilia from Durham College's past 40 years.

Cap the day off by enjoying homestyle Polish cuisine at Sikorski Hall, then dance like the good old days to the music of decades gone by. Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m.
