Durham College students, staff, faculty and even Lord Durham put their best feet forward during the Second Annual Campus Charity Walk and Run for the Eastview Boys and Girls Club.

Participants contributed $20 each to take part in the five-kilometre course that was set out around the campus. In all, about 180 participants and volunteers took part on April 9.

"It's really important to do community service," said Matt Agar a Firefighter - Pre-Service, Education and Training student. "I grew up swimming there (Eastview club) so anything I can do to help the boys and girls - plus you get a good workout at the same time."

This year a team challenge between Durham College and UOIT varsity athletes and teams was organized making for a friendly competitive element. UOIT's rowing team won the challenge as it topped out with the highest number of participants.

Durham College's community commitment and giving spirit will go along way in helping the Eastview Boys and Girls Club provide a safe and supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
