Stacey Alleyne of the Law and Security Administration program was the inaugural recipient of the Geoff McCombe Leadership in Community Service Award.
Students from the Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations program and the Special Events Auxiliary Team (SEAT), a security operation designed to teach the fundamental principles of security services, held their inaugural Geoff McCombe Leadership in Community Service Award Ceremony on Tuesday, April 22.
The ceremony recognized demonstrated leadership, achievements, innovations and commitments, along with positive contributions to community safety and student success.
Recipients of the inaugural Geoff McCombe Leadership in Community Service Awards 2008 were:
"The Law and Security Administration program has given me all the policing tools I've needed," said Alleyne. "It's given me real-life experiences that I'll need on a day-to-day basis to be successful in the field of law and security."
Recipients of SEAT Recognition Awards 2008 were:
Elgin Knopp, co-chair of the Special Olympics Ontario Spring Games in Durham Region and two Special Olympics athletes were on hand to receive a donation of $1,000 from funds the inaugural Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations class raised through donations received for volunteering their services.
