Family Feud participants debate what the survey says as funds are raised for a specialized wheelchair for a local teen.
Durham College Pre-Media students planned and organized the Durham College Family Feud fundraiser, in support of a local high-school student who was paralyzed from a spinal cord injury that happened during a school wrestling tournament last November.
The well-attended feud took place on campus April 10, with contestants drawn from the audience. Participants were cheered on as they learned what 'the survey said' to intriguing questions such as, What do college roommates fight over?
"The students worked very hard to put together a successful event that would be fun for everyone and contribute in a small way to raising hope for a young man from our community," said Donna Crome a professor in the Durham College schools of Design and Communications Arts. "Most of all, I think the students learned how good it feels to reach a goal and to make a significant contribution to someone in need."
In all, $625 was raised through bake sales, event tickets, raffles and donations. The money will be used to help purchase a specialized wheelchair for the injured teen.
