The Port Hope Job Connect team received the Council's Choice Award at the 11th Annual Port Hope Business Excellence Awards dinner.
The Port Hope Job Connect team was recently named winner of the 2007 Council's Choice Award at the 11th Annual Port Hope Business Excellence Awards dinner, hosted by the Port Hope and District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Committee.
The team received the award from Port Hope Mayor Linda Thompson and council in recognition of its contribution to the Northumberland community through partnerships and service.
"The Port Hope team has continually worked hard to build and maintain a rapport and to co-ordinate services with key stakeholders in the community," said Kim Lutes-McKay, manager of the Community Employment Resource Services. "Our reward has always been the success of our clients. To be recognized is both an honour and a privilege."
In particular, the Job Connect team was recognized for their professional yet, extremely friendly and approachable staff, and their ability to provide or find appropriate services for job seekers.
Job Connect is a youth employment program that is provincially funded by Employment Ontario and delivered by the college through the School of Career Development and Continuing Education. The Job Connect program is designed to assist youth, adults and the underemployed find employment.
Receiving this award is another affirmation of the outstanding service that Durham College and Port Hope Job Connect provides while making a difference in the community.
