Bonnie St. George, associate dean of the School of Justice & Emergency Services, will serve a three-year term on the Lakeridge Health Network's Board of Trustees after being nominated and elected in June.
One of Durham College's most active faculty members was honoured recently when she was named to the Board of Trustees at Lakeridge Health Network.
Bonnie St. George, associate dean of the School of Justice & Emergency Services, was named a trustee after being nominated and elected at the board's annual general meeting on June 26.
"It is an exciting time for Lakeridge Health, as both the board chair and CEO are new to their positions," said St. George. "I am honoured to be a part of such a thriving and growing organization and am looking forward to contributing to its ongoing success."
As a member of the board, St. George will serve a three-year term, working with other committed members to build and enhance local health-care programs and infrastructure.
Prior to joining Durham College, St. George was a senior policy advisor to Bob Runciman, then provincial Minister of Public Safety and Security. In 2001, she became a professor with the School of Justice & Emergency Services, and was named associate dean in 2007.
St. George is currently a member of the college's Academic Leadership Team, serving as its representative on the Academic Human Resources Committee, and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges' Police and Security Education Network.
Using her previous experience in policy and governance, St. George drafted the Executive Limitations policy for Durham College's Board of Governors, as well as policies on general education, new program development, and program renewal and rationalization.
Durham College's exceptional educators and other campus leaders bring years of experience to the classroom and also share that experience with local organizations to help build stronger communities for us all.
