High school lacrosse players from across Durham Region had the chance to experience the sport at the American collegiate level, when the Virginia Polytechnic University women's lacrosse team held a summer skills camp on Vaso's Field at Durham College.

"We are pleased to be able to work with Virginia Tech and offer this invaluable opportunity for the female lacrosse athletes in the community," said Ken Babcock, Durham College's athletic director. "The intense practices helped the players further develop their skills, improve their confidence and ultimately, improve their game."

The two-day camp, held July 29 and 30, offered high school female field lacrosse players the opportunity to work with Virginia Tech staff, including Lynz Keys, an assistant coach and Whitby native, and experience playing collegiate-level lacrosse.

Keys' impressive resume includes nine years of experience with the Ohio University Lacrosse Camp, Patterson Lacrosse Camp, International Lacrosse Camp hosted at Rutgers University and Merestead Sports Camps in Richmond, Virginia.

During her playing career at Ohio University, Keys earned All-Region and All-American Lacrosse Conference honours during both her junior and senior seasons. She is also a five-year member of the Canadian National women's lacrosse team and played three years for the Canadian National U-19 Women's Lacrosse team.
