The following general procedures and regulations are in effect for members of the Durham College community who wish to have borrowing privileges at another college library. Durham College students and staff are strongly encouraged to obtain information on the privileges available at individual host libraries before visiting those libraries.
Library Card: To use the libraries at these colleges present your valid Durham College photo ID student or staff card at the appropriate desk and complete any necessary registration form. Collateral identification may be required. You will be issued a library card for use at the library.
Length of Loan: The loan period and renewal privileges are determined by the lending library.
Type of Material: Only circulating material as defined by the lending library may be borrowed. Reserves or other heavily used material may not be available to Reciprocal Borrowing participants.
Fines: The fine and fee schedules for overdue or recalled books in operation in the lending library will apply to all borrowers. You are responsible for fines incurred. The Durham College library may be contacted regarding delinquent borrowers and requested to assist in the retrieval of material or collection of fines.
Damaged or Lost Books: You are responsible for library material borrowed in your name. Lost books should be reported promptly to the Circulation Department of the lending library. Borrowers losing or failing to return books or returning items in damaged condition are subject to replacement and processing charges as determined by the lending library.
Sanctions: The lending library may withdraw borrowing privileges from any student or staff member who abuses the provisions of the reciprocal borrowing agreement.
Return of Books: Books must be returned directly to the lending library.
