Cell Phone Policy

Because the use of cell phones in public areas, and particularly in study areas, is disturbing to others, cell phone use is permitted in the Library only in designated areas.

Cell phones may be used in:

  • fully enclosed stairwells
  • the Library cafe
  • the main vestibule between the two main doors
  • fully enclosed group study rooms

Cell phones must be turned to their silent signal, or turned off, in the Library. Library users who receive cell phone calls in the Library must exit immediately from the main Library space to a designated cell phone space, before engaging in conversation.

Users who are unwilling to comply with this policy are subject to sanctions as set out in the Library Code of Conduct.
