5. The term of office for all the External and three (3) Staff Internal Board Members is up to three years and may be renewed for up to an additional three years. A Governor may not serve more than six consecutive years, but after having served six years, a person is again eligible for reappointment after an absence of two years from the Board. To determine a Governor's eligibility for re-appointment, the Council's policy is to count service for any portion of a year as a full year.
A student member of the Board who was elected by the student body and appointed by the Council of Regents has a one (1) year term and is eligible for immediate re-election and appointment twice.
A student member who graduates prior to the expiration of the term may remain a member of the Board until the expiration of the term.
An elected Internal Member who ceases to be a member of a constituent group automatically ceases to be a member of the Board of Governors.
