Visual art activities

Children need to express themselves through a variety of media and activities. Through visual art, each child symbolically represents aspects of his/her own world. This is a sequential, unfolding, natural process that is understood and supported by adults at the Centre. Adults in the Centre avoid presenting models for children's art and encourage children to interpret and express their own creative ideas.

The Centre offers the opportunity for exploration of colour, line, texture, and form using a variety of materials including fabric, clay, and paper. The students engage in activities such as:
  • Tearing;
  • Cutting;
  • Drawing;
  • Pasting;
  • Painting;
  • Constructing; and
  • Collage making.
