Dates

Spell out the full name of the month followed by the numeral of the day.

For example: Durham College's 40th anniversary is Tuesday, September 18.

Include the year if the date is more than 12 months from the time the copy will be published or released.

For example: Durham College's 40th convocation ceremonies will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009.

Days of the week are used when writing copy.

For example: Durham College students returned to school on Tuesday, September 9.

Exception: Durham College Orientation Week will take place the week of September 2 to 6.

When writing the month and year together, do not insert a comma.

For example: The new program will be launched in September 2008.

When referring to an academic year, for example, use a hyphen.

For example: Durham College has added several new programs for the 2008-2009 academic year.
