Tuition Assistance for Dependent Children

An application for fee reimbursement must be completed along with a copy of the receipt for paid tuition and handed into Human Resources within the first month of the semester concerned.  Reimbursements are approved by Human Resources and are subject to the terms and conditions of the policy and procedure.  An application does not guarantee reimbursement.

A full-time employee of Durham College whose dependent child(ren) are approved for admission to a full-time Durham College post-secondary program may apply for reimbursement of the regulated tuition fees (less $100).  This benefit commences at the start of the first full semester after the date of full-time hire.  Application forms are available inthe form section of the HR website.  For detailed eligibilty requirements, please refer to Policy #517 - TuitionReimbursement for Dependent Children for more information.

Dependents of full-time college employees, if approved for admission through the normal process, may apply for a UOIT scholarship.  A dependent may apply to UOIT for post-secondary undergraduate programmes for an annual $1,000.00 scholarship ($500.00 per semester).  The maximum life time scholarship is $4,000.00 per dependent.  To qualify for a scholarship, the dependent must achieve an average of 75% or an equivalent G.P.A. from their most recent set of academic grades and have paid all tuition and other mandatory fees.  The scholarship does not apply to dependents who study on a part-time basis.  Please refer to Policy #517 - Tuition Reimbursement for Dependent Children.

The above benefit programmes cannot be combined to exceed 4 years.  Please see the appropriate policy with respect to the definition of a dependent.
