It is most important that all employees of the College (whether they are full- or part-time) be familiar with the following sections of the Fire Drill Procedures. An Emergency Procedure handout is distributed to all students at the beginning of each semester (first night of class).
General Considerations:
- Make yourself aware of the locations of fire alarms, exit doors, stairwells, exit traffic routes and fire extinguishers/hoses that can be used by both staff and students.
- At the sound of the alarm, the entire building must be evacuated. Classes, labs and shops are to be interrupted and these areas evacuated. It is the responsibility of the staff present to ensure that all students have left the classroom, lab or shop.
- Staff in all shop and lab areas should shut off all gas or electrical equipment, lights will be left on and close doors behind you as you evacuate.
-
Upon leaving the building remain 100 meters (300 feet) from the exterior of the building.
