Durham College has been offering Continuing Education Courses since the 1967-68 academic year. This department has become a vibrant operation which continues to expand its course offerings every year. Leaders in the field of Continuing Education, they have won the Metroland Reader's Choice Award for their favourite adult education provider consecutively for eleven years.
Students can work towards an individual course, certificate, diploma or post-diploma. Barriers of time and access have been removed by offering courses in three venues - classroom, online, and correspondence.
The Continuing Education population consists of students from the community, alumni and post-secondary who are supplementing their professional or personal development, and or working towards a professional accreditation in their business field. Durham staff (colleagues) can enhance their professional development through the very large variety of courses available part-time. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) challenges are available through this office.

Durham Continuing Education is a member of OntarioLearn, a consortium of 22 Ontario Colleges, (www.OntarioLearn.com) who partner in the development and delivery of online courses. Registrants in Durham online courses live within the province and beyond, including students from China, USA, Greece, and England.
Continuing Education offers approximately 500+ distance education courses per semester (three times per year). Some courses are monthly intake and our fast-track courses are also offered on a monthly intake basis throughout the year.
Registrations for online learning (OntarioLearn) have been steadily increasing every semester since 1995, with 4925 total registrants for the 2007/2008 year up to and including March 2008.
