The Research Accounting Department provides a wide range of financial services to research studies in all of our university departments. Their services include authorization of expenditures, cheque deposits, invoicing related to research, account management and preparation of financial statements. They work closely with funding agencies, researchers, administration and the Office of Research Services to ensure adherence to funding guidelines and policies.
Research Accounting manages all the post-award functions for research grants and contracts at the university. This includes monitoring cash flows and expenditures, communicating with funding agencies and financial reporting.
Research accounting supports the research environment at UOIT by providing expert advice, financial accountability and on-going management of research funds. They strive to provide efficient and timely administration of research funds, minimizing the university's exposure to financial risk.
As part of the Finance and Strategy division, Research Accounting is responsible for ensuring compliance to UOIT's institutional policies and procedures and managing research accounts once a grant or contract has been awarded. The office's specific functions include:
