Regions

In developing the international strategy for Durham College, the institution undertook an in-depth examination of domestic and international market trends to determine the regions for potential involvement and the positive impact international projects would have on the local community and province. Subsequent to this data gathering and analysis, members of administration undertook a series of visits to key international markets to gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges and opportunities that the college would face in this field of business.

The evidence-based decisions have focused on three key factors: students first, academic excellence and financial stability.

From this process it was determined that the international strategy would focus on several key areas: the Americas; India, the Middle East; and China. Subsequent to this decision, the Office of International Business Development(OIBD)has developed projects and partnerships to facilitate growth in those areas. Time was invested in developing relationships and developing sustainable business models that will not only internationalize the college curriculum, but also create new revenue streams to support the college in the Canadian context.
