Student success at college is the result of a team effort - parents and families are an integral part of the team. This section of the website has been developed to provide families with an additional understanding of their student's life at Durham College and offer ways to remain an active partner in fostering their success. We believe that the more informed family members are about the college, the better they can support their students.
Adjusting to change
Durham College recognizes that once a student has committed to attending college, the family inevitably begins to change, whether the student will be living at home or away from home. These changes are exciting as your student not only gains new knowledge but also develops new personal skills. The Student Life office is committed to assisting families and supporting students by celebrating the journey of each student.
Through the renowned scholar and researcher Arthur Chickering, it is known that students are continuously developing interpersonal skills and personal values while studying at college. It is important for parents and families to understand and support their student's growth.

For more information on how you can help your student adjust to change, you can
request a parent and family calendar outlining important dates and information regarding the student experience. Please include your full mailing address and that your student will be attending Durham College in the fall.
