The Learner Support Centre is available to help you achieve your educational goals. At the centre you will find learning skills support, online tutorials, peer tutors and writing specialists. If your first language is not English, academic language specialists are available to work with you.

College peer tutoring: Trained successful senior students are available to work with you to master course content. You can access up to 15 hours of tutoring in two subjects per semester for a $5 fee.

English as a second language (ESL) academic services: You can access one-on-one appointments to review assignments, improve your editing skills and develop the comprehension skills needed to improve the content and coherence of your academic writing. A staff member is also available to conduct speaking assessments to identify your strengths and weaknesses in oral presentation skills. A conversation club designed to encourage you to practise your English speaking skills meets on a weekly basis in the Learner Support Centre.

Learning skills advisors: These advisors deliver workshops and provide one-to-one assistance to help you refine your learning skills. Focus areas include active listening and note taking, exam and test preparation, learning styles, memory skills, stress management, study habits, thinking and reading skills and time management and organization.

Subject specific supports: Qualified advisors provide clinics in a variety of disciplines. Specific support is determined by need and the availability of qualified advisors.

Writing specialist: A writing specialist provides individual and group research and writing skills for students. You can also access various writing skills workshops throughout the year.

You are invited to visit the centre and meet with a learning skills advisor to determine the most appropriate way to utilize its services or you can visit the website to access online academic supports and a schedule of learning activities.
