Durham College is committed to assisting first-year students achieve a smooth transition to post secondary education. This is why we are excited to offer our new students multiple orientation programs to get them started on the right foot!
First-year students are able to start their transition to college life through the
Get Prepared for September (GPS) summer orientation program. This innovative program allows new students the opportunity to design their own summer orientation experience. GPS provides students with an opportunity to navigate through the steps of becoming a Durham College student on their terms. Students have the option of completing their college business by coming to campus, going online or through a combination of both.
There are several GPS days scheduled throughout August. Students can select the day that works best for them, the sessions they will attend and the services that they will visit.
GPS online provides students with the opportunity to virtually navigate through the steps of becoming a Durham College student with two exceptions: Campus Identification Cards and for students in the Mobile Learning programs, laptop computers must be picked up in person.
Online orientation and registration for GPS in-person days begins in July.
The fall semester will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Over the next few months, the Student Life office, together with the Student Steering Committee (SSC) and the DC Crew will be working on finalizing fall orientation programming. Orientation Week 2009 promises to give students a great start to the year both academically and socially.
