Please note: In order to register for an apprenticeship program at Durham College, you must have received your "Offer of Training Letter" from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Once you have received your "Offer of Training," you may register in person at:

Note: Payment is required at time of registration. Advanced level apprentices are required to pay a $30.60 graduation fee.

Becoming an Apprentice

  • You must first find an employer to hire and train you
  • Employer and apprentice sign a training agreement prepared by an Apprenticeship Branch consultant-this agreement is filed with the Ministry and the apprentice is enrolled at Durham College
  • Ninety per cent of training is practical and on the job, 10 per cent is theoretical in-class
  • After completion of an apprenticeship, apprentices are eligible to write the provincial Certificate of Qualification exam

Apprenticeship Training Programs @ Durham

Durham College provides the in-school training portion of the skilled trades listed here. Apprentices must maintain excellent attendance, a minimum mark of 70 per cent in each subject, and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to successfully complete their program. At the end of your apprenticeship (all levels), you are qualified to write the exam for your Certificate of Qualification. Successful completion of the Certificate of Qualification exam means that you are certified in your chosen occupation.
