English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

The Durham College English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program supports the ideal of

success for every student ...

The EAP Program is designed to give intensive instruction to international students who do not meet the language requirements for direct entry into a Canadian college or university. This 8 level program prepares students for direct entry into college or university.

Our Goal

Our goal is to ensure that graduating students have post-secondary competence in USING the English language to participate successfully in their post-secondary programs. In addition, students also gain an understanding of Canadian teaching methods, teachers' expectations and the responsibilities of being a student in a Canadian academic environment.

"Having enough English is only half of the equation for success. The other half is knowing how to be a competent student in a Canadian academic environment."
