Oshawa, ON - It's a dream come true for Eric Flemming of Oshawa, who has been chosen by the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) to attend the Summer Games in Athens, Greece from September 17-28. The Paralympic Games are designed for highly skilled, elite athletes who have a physical disability.
Eric was recently nominated by the Athletics Canada selection committee to represent the country in javelin and the 100 metre dash at the games. However, he was anticipating the July 6th announcement to make it official.
Eric graduated from Durham College's Public and Private Investigations - Graduate Certificate program at the June 18 convocation ceremony. He also has his diploma from Durham College's Police Foundations Program, received in June 2003.
Eric started competing in track and field in the early 1990s. He has been a member of the Provincial championship team; the Paralympic's shadow team; Canadian national team; and at the age of 16, he became a member of the World Championship team. He missed attending the Sydney Paralympic Games by a fraction of a second, so being named to the team this time around is an outstanding achievement.
