OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) have submitted a joint response to the Rae Review on Postsecondary Education. The Response to the Postsecondary Review Paper is grounded in the principle of educational justice.
Our integrated campus respects and honours the kind of learning our students opt to pursue in the context of their own circumstances and life choices, and offers access to a wide range of postsecondary options that reinforce the importance of higher learning throughout our lives.
"The coincidence of the Review and our second year as a shared campus is less an accident than an occasion for reflecting on the necessity of postsecondary change," said Gary Polonsky, president of both Durham College and UOIT. "We are more than willing to serve as the vanguard of new ideas and thinking differently."
The recommendations will be important to raising the conceptual bar, by recognizing that all student choices should be encouraged and supported, and innovation should define our future.
