Whitby Honda dealership donates car to Durham College

December 3, 2004

OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College students will be better equipped to repair modern cars thanks to a generous donation from Honda Canada, which was organized by the Whitby Honda dealership.

The local dealership has provided a Honda Civic to students of the Automotive Service Technician and Automotive Apprenticeship (Levels 1, 2 and 3) programs of the Whitby Skills Training Centre, so that they can adequately study repair procedures in six areas: driveline/transaxle, electrical, fuel, suspension and brakes, steering, and engine systems.

"This special donation will greatly enhance our students' knowledge in the latest automotive technology," said Peter Schloen, automotive co-ordinator with Durham College.

Keys to the vehicle will be presented on December 7 at 11:15 a.m. in the front circle of the Whitby campus. In case of rain, the event will be held in the automotive shop.

"Whitby Honda is proud to contribute to the educational experience of students at Durham College," said Bentley Hammer, dealer principal at Whitby Honda. "We give back to the community in any way we can."
