Port Perry, Ont. - Durham College's long- awaited Community Employment Resource Centre has arrived and is open for business in Port Perry. There will be a grand opening on Wednesday May 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. to celebrate this new and much-appreciated community based employment resource centre.
The centre, located at 126 Water St., Suite #4 (2nd Floor of The Sutton Group Lifestyle Realty Building), is operated by Durham College and is funded by Human Resources Development Canada. We are very pleased to be co-located with Sutton Group Lifestyle Realty and appreciate the support of Mark Smith, his staff and his agents.
The self-directed resource centre offers clients of all ages and walks of life, free use of six computers with Internet access, fax machine and photocopier. As well, the staff of the centre offer free workshops to support clients with resume creation, cover letters and interview preparation.. The centre offers information on colleges and universities, OSAP forms and information, Social Insurance Number forms and information, and literature regarding employment programs and the labour market.
The centre staff, Stephanie Tufts, Co-ordinator and, Jill Howsam, Job Coach, are available to support and assist visitors to the centre through the ongoing coordination and implementation of the programs and services. The Community Employment Resource Centre is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturdays clients can access the resources from 10 a.m. -2 p.m..
The staff of the centre would like to welcome anyone interested in employment information to stop in and become a member to access the excellent services available.
