New Durham grads eager to prove themselves to employers

May 2, 2002

Oshawa, Ont. - Having completed their studies this spring, some 1,300 Durham College students are looking forward to applying their skills and knowledge in the workplace.

Students in the class of 2002 represent nearly 70 programs in a wide range of fields such as applied science, arts, business, health, justice studies, skilled trades and technology. This year, the college's Electronic Business, Addictions Counsellor (Post-Diploma), Electronic Commerce (Post-Diploma) and Public and Private Investigations (Post-Diploma) programs, as well as the revamped Business Administration-Accounting program, which now features a fully integrated laptop approach, will produce their first graduates.

"I have met many of these students and I can honestly say that they are absolutely phenomenal," said Gary Polonsky, president of Durham College. "Employers throughout Canada and around the world frequently tell us that our grads make a positive contribution from their very first day on the job."

Employers that have openings for full-time, part-time, contract, summer or internship positions may post their positions free of charge on Job Site, the college's new job posting service (jobsite.durhamc.on.ca), or call the college's Career & Employment Services department at 905-721-3034.
