Oshawa, Ontario - Durham College announced today that it will receive an in-kind donation of 19 e-business software products from IBM Canada valued at $300,000 Cdn.
The in-kind software donation, part of IBM Canada's Objects on Campus program, will provide students from Durham College's Electronic Business program with the opportunity to build and run sophisticated e-business applications and to create and maintain online operations such as relationship marketing, retailing, merchandising and payment processing.
"This software grant gives students access to products that they can learn to use quickly and provides critical technology skills and opportunities," says John Kutcy, Business Unit Executive, Education, IBM Canada. "By giving students the ability to work with leading industry products, students will gain invaluable real-world experience before they leave the classroom. This will be a key differentiator for when they enter the workforce."
"Our focus at Durham is to provide students with the high-end skills and experience that employers demand, so they can add value right from their very first day on the job," says Judy Moretton, Dean, School of Business.
