Oshawa, Ontario - Once again, Durham College students demonstrated their top-notch abilities at the annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition, taking home two gold and one silver award.
Ralph Trauzzi captured first place in the industrial wiring competition while James Elliot earned the gold medal in the plumbing competition. Fellow Durham student Adam Bullock was awarded the silver medal in the welding competition. As gold medal winners, Trauzzi and Elliot will be eligible to compete at the Canada-wide skills competition, to be held in Edmonton from May 31 to June 3. Trauzzi earned a silver medal in the industrial wiring competition at the 2000 competition.
"Everyone is proud of the magnificent effort of each of our seven competitors," said Bev Balenko, vice-president of business and skills development at Durham College. "Our students are frequent medal winners at this event, which is further proof of their talents and ingenuity, as well as the high quality of our programs."
The Ontario competition attracted more than 750 students and apprentices who competed in more than 40 categories including network cabling, carpentry and precision machining. The event was held in Kitchener from May 7 to 9.
