Oshawa, Ontario - Once again, Ralph Trauzzi has shown that Durham College students rank among the most skilled and accomplished in the country.
Trauzzi won the silver medal in the industrial wiring category at the Canadian Skills Competition, held in Edmonton from May 31 to June 3. The Courtice resident also earned a gold medal earlier this year at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Kitchener.
"The results between first and second place at the national competition were very close and that made me feel good," said Trauzzi, who works as a maintenance operator for the Region of Durham. Trauzzi completed his industrial electrician apprenticeship studies at the college's Skills Training Centre in June.
"Ralph is an outstanding individual and he's an excellent example of the high calibre of students we have here," said Sandy MacDonald, director, school of skilled trades & apprenticeship at Durham College. "Our students have been frequent winners at the Ontario competition, and we've also had a number of winners at the national level over the years."
The Canadian Skills Competition attracted 470 students and apprentices from across Canada who competed in 40 categories including network cabling, carpentry and precision machining.
