The week of March 23-27 has been proclaimed "Career Week" by the following Mayors: Diane Hamre, Municipality of Clarington; Nancy Diamond, City of Oshawa; Steven Parish, Township of Ajax; Keith Shier, Township of Brock and Gerri Lynn O'Connor, Township of Uxbridge.
The "Career Week" will start with "Youth Career Info Fair" to be held on Monday and Tuesday, March 23rd and 24th at Adult and Continuing Education Centre, 240 Simcoe St. S., Oshawa. This two day event will provide people aged from 15-30 with an opportunity to explore the workplace skills necessary to succeed in the new millennium.
On Wednesday, March 25th, Durham College will be hosting "Career Fair '98" at Durham College Gymnasium, 2000 Simcoe St. N. Oshawa. Fifty-five employers will be networking with approximately 1,500 job-ready candidates from 54 post-secondary programs. The participating employers will be able to market and promote their companies to a targeted group of applicants from Business, Technology, Computers and Health sectors.
Julian Luke, Coordinator, Youth Career Info Fair said, "I am pleased at how Durham College and Human Resources Development Canada have managed to obtain provincial, regional and municipal backing for these events. Director Pat Walcott and staff from the local employment centre have created a truly unique youth fair."
