Durham College received funding through the Ministry of Education and Training, to deliver the Career & Employment Preparation Program (CEPP), for the town of Port Hope and surrounding area.
The Port Hope office received a $460,000 grant to establish a Career, Information & Referral Centre. The centre will include current information on career opportunities, occupations, local and regional market trends, training opportunities, and community profile information.
The CEPP centre will offer workshops and one-on-one counselling to assist individuals with employment preparation, establishing and setting career goals, preparing action plans and will also provide paid on-the-job training.
Durham College will allocate $235,000 of the total grant to use for wage subsidies for local businesses to offset the cost of on the job training for new employees. Over 340 clients will be accommodated at this new centre, including 115 on the job training placements will be conducted in the Port Hope area.
Durham College is pleased with the announcement and will provide the best service to Port Hope and surrounding area residents, business and industry. Our goal is to be a valuable community partner with all existing agencies.
