Durham College is pleased to introduce The Career Shop. A 'one-start' shopping experience open to the public which will meet individual career and education needs. The official Grand Opening took place on January 31.
The Career Shop's objective is to help clients gain the knowledge, skills and practical experience to start and maintain a successful career in today's fast paced labour market. Through this new opportunity, people have quick and easy access to a full range of career and educational programs including: training, services and resources that are available in our community and throughout the province.
The Career Shop offers personal one-to-one counselling, workshops on issues pertaining to job search such as career exploration, effective resume writing, and labour market trends. Clients will also have access to job search tools such as use of fax, photocopier, Internet and employer directories.
'We are very proud of the one-of-a-kind services we are able to offer our clients in the community,' stated Jeanette Barrett, Director of Career Development, Durham College. 'Not only do we offer educational programs and training, our staff have a great deal of expertise in career planning.
Our counsellors are happy to work with our clients to identify their career-related goals, and help them develop an action plan.'
