OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College received four Trillium Awards during the College Committee for Advancement (CCA) conference, an event that highlights the outstanding creativity within Ontario's colleges.
"These awards are indicative of the high standards we value at Durham College," said Bev Balenko, chief operating officer. "Our students, our faculty and our staff are committed to excellence."
For first place honours in the College Recruitment Video/CD category, the judges said, "Great energy on the introduction. Quick, clean, nice selection of photography to represent the college. Very professional."
The college also received an award in the Special Events category for its fundraising gala held in September. The judges said, "A beautiful event that met its goal to stage a distinguished event that raised more than $200,000. The judges liked the way the planning committee carried the exciting nautical theme of the Maiden Voyage of the HMS Legacy right through from the invitation to the decor for the evening."
Honourable mention went to the college website and to the safari tours, which were entered into the Best New Idea-Creativity on a Shoestring category. The tours brought together the campus community by providing an opportunity to tour the ever-changing campus.
