OSHAWA, Ont. - Just two years after Durham College created two brand new programs in computer animation, students are already beginning to shine. John Bresky, a 23-year-old Animation Graduate Certificate student placed second in the Animation category of the Great Canadian Art Competition, a national contest sponsored by Electronic Arts Canada (EA Canada).
Bresky, who resides in Toronto, was honoured for his work Table for Two, which is about a romantically linked couple arguing over their bill in a restaurant.
This was the first year EA Canada held this event, which is designed to find the top talent in Canada for digital animation and art. As part of the event, all 25 finalists were invited to tour the company's 207,000 square foot design studio in Burnaby, British Columbia; meet senior executives and Hollywood art directors; and attend the gala awards presentation.
