OSHAWA, Ont. - Post-secondary, upgrading, apprenticeship and continuing education classes at the Durham College Oshawa and Whitby campuses continue to be cancelled due to the strike of the province's college faculty.
Approximately 5,800 full-time Durham College post-secondary and apprenticeship students, along with approximately 4,000 continuing education students are being affected by the work stoppage. A total of 294 Durham College faculty members are off the job.
Following today's meetings with Minister of Training, College and Universities Chris Bentley, contract talks between OPSEU and Ontario's colleges are set to resume on Monday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Both University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and Trent in Oshawa classes continue.
In addition, continuing education classes at Durham College's Uxbridge and Ajax- Pickering (St. Mary's School) campuses, as well online (Ontariolearn) courses hosted by the college continue to run. Online students are advised to check their online desktop to confirm course status.
Students and all others entering campus are advised that picket lines are in place and extra time should be allotted to cross the picket lines. Care and respect should be used.
