Graduate employment and student satisfaction rates continue to rise year after year
OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College announced today that it is the number one college in the GTA for the seventh year in a row according to the results of the annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) released this morning from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
The KPIs are part of an Ontario government initiative that takes place each year. Every student in the province attending college is asked to participate in a student satisfaction survey that asks them to rate the quality of their program, college facilities and services, and many other areas related to their studies and academic experience.
Recent graduates and their employers are also surveyed via phone to explore the percentage of college graduates that are employed full- and part-time, current salaries, and how well graduates and employers feel a college education prepares students for the workplace.
Durham College ranked highest overall in the GTA based on a combined ranking in the areas of student satisfaction, graduate employment, graduate satisfaction, graduation rate and employer satisfaction. The college is also number one in the GTA when it comes to graduate employment with 93.1 per cent of 2005 Durham College graduates employed within six months of graduation, and student satisfaction with a ranking of 77.9 per cent - indicating students are satisfied with the overall quality of services, programming and resources Durham College provides.
"At Durham College, we strive to provide students with a positive experience and everything they need to succeed in today's workplace. We are thrilled to be the number one college in the GTA once again," said Leah Myers, president of Durham College. "Surveys like the KPIs are one of the ways we measure the satisfaction of our students, graduates and the companies who employ our graduates, and we look forward to utilizing this feedback to ensure we continue to serve our students and employers to the highest standard."
The KPI surveys provide valuable feedback that is used to help guide improvements to Durham College programs, classrooms, labs, services and other areas such as the 700 new lounge/study seats, new cafeteria and increased access to athletics that were introduced based on last year's results.
