Durham College to host Building Connections Parent Day

Local parents strive to keep children focused on the future

OSHAWA, Ont. - Parents of children attending Grade seven or eight in Durham Region are invited to take part in Parent Day at Durham College this Saturday.

Hosting by Building Connections, the event will give parents an opportunity to visit Durham College and learn about the programs and support available to students. Potential career possibilities and the value of education when setting future goals will also be discussed.

Initiated by the Council of Ontario Directors of Education and the Committee of Presidents, the Building Connections program is funded by the school/college/work initiative through the Ontario Ministry of Education.

When: Saturday, June 3, from 9:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Durham College, Gordon Willey building, Room I-110, 2000 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, Ontario

Presentations:

  • Center for Students With Disabilities - 9:30 to 10:10 a.m.
  • Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program - 10:20 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Admission, programs - 11:10 to 11:50 a.m.

Parking: Enter off Simcoe Street North and proceed to the Commencement parking lot.
