Lindsay Battle

Lindsay Battle worked for the Shipping and Receiving department as a work study student while she attended school here. She grew to know and like the faculty and staff, which prompted her to obtain a job and join the Durham College family. Battle feels the college is a tight-knit community and that everyone on campus is friendly and approachable. She tells students to get involved in school activities and do everything they can to make their college careers memorable.

Donna McFarlane is a proven leader and innovator with nearly 20 years of communications experience. She is currently vice-president of Communications and Marketing at Durham College. With a passion for strengthening community, government and stakeholder relations, McFarlane has led the Communications and Marketing, Alumni, and External Relations teams for nearly three years at Durham College. She has brought numerous innovative changes to the way Durham College communicates with its internal and external communities. Prior to arriving at Durham College, she was director of Public Affairs at Ontario Power Generation and represented OPG on industry committees at the national and international levels. McFarlane holds an advanced graduate diploma in Management from Athabasca University, a Bachelor of Education, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English from Wilfrid Laurier University.

The reputation of Durham College’s commitment to student success is what drew Susan Sproul to work here on campus. The people are welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the faculty is among the best. Sproul’s advice for new students is to study hard, stay focused, and take time to play. Success is inevitable!

What began as a temporary job led to full-time employment for Jillian Walker, thanks to her desire to continue working with the amazing people in her in the Facilities Management department. She feels a sense of community between departments, staff, students, the campus and the city – a feeling that no matter who someone is or where they come from, they belong here on campus, a feeling she loves about working here. Walker believes students should utilize every possible resource at the college since there are so many knowledgeable people available to help them succeed.
