Durham College is proud to be the official host site for the athletes competing at the Special Olympics Ontario 2008 Spring Games in Durham Region, from May 29 to 31. The athletes, their coaches and trainers will all be staying on campus for the Games, while the college will also host the powerlifting and basketball events and the opening and closing ceremonies. In addition, Durham College is also hosting a Healthy Athletes Expo on campus from May 8 to 10, where athletes will receive free health tests, including Opening Eyes (vision), Special Smiles (oral health), FUNfitness (flexibility and exercise), Health Promotion, Fit Feet, and Healthy Hearing.
Durham College President Leah Myers is an official Ambassador of the Games and looks forward to welcoming the participants, their families and other guests from across Ontario to campus. Durham College is proud of its 40-year history in Durham Region and the active role it has taken in many strong community partnerships that benefit students, Durham Region and beyond.
